youtube proxy race 2023

welcome to the Youtube proxy 2023 - a fun race in UK / AT / UK

3 different track, 3 drivers, 9 cars


the first leg of the proxy ran at Rob´s track in the UK and he did an awesome video covering the race.

As i am more into taking pictures and writing, i will cover the race with a live stream on twitch from end of the track and on youtube watched from the other end of the track.

after the race the will be a written commentary with pictures here.

Rob - Renault megane

13V 45ohm

nice handling car. only the grippy front tires are causing a rattling noise and vibrations. could be faster with coated front (or some zero grip front tires.

maybe if the motor was a little more to the rear axle, there could be even more speed in this car.

Graham - Porsche (diecast)

14V 35 ohm

high center of gravity makes the car barrel roll at every attempt to push the speed in corners. long gearing, could be shorter for better brakes and better accelaration.

wobbly front tires cause vibrations that cost speed.

great level of grip from the chassis and nice handling. big tires.

Rob - Audi (diecast)

13V 45 ohm

the Audi has the same problems as the Megane, but the rear end is even more loose. nice handling, good brakes, good acceleration. front tires with grip do not handle well, so.

rear tires with too much grip cause problems in all turns, but still quite and fast. need to change these tires!

Graham - Porsche #22

13v 90ohm

high center of gravity makes the Porsche very hard to predict, especially as the possible curve speed is awesomly high!

very good handling, but the play in front axle, with the vibrations coming from the front end, it gets a little hard to handle. high concentration is needed to get the best speed out of this car.

guide could rotate a little easier, maybe some high flex silicone cable for the guide? I will put in a sample in the box to Graham.

a properly quick car with a really nice handling! great to drive! maybe only the motor position could be moved a little to the rear so there would be less pressure on the front and more grip on the rear for a little more speed.

really nice to drive!

Graham - Peugeot

16V 90ohm

a nice handling car with a way too short gearing. great to drive, but the gearing could be 25% to 40% longer and it would still have great acceleration and brakes!

nice handling, could use a little weight under the rear axle to stop it from barrel rolling in corners.

quite fast for stock Carrera car with added guide and Ortmann tires. CA glue bearings.

looks like the youtube app canceled during the qualifying - sorry for this. looks like no saved stream. i tried.

twitch should have the stream available for a day or 2 - do not know the last setting

to keep balance twitch cancelled the first attempt, so no video from Robs Megane.

yep, "kleiner" Umbau im Keller

Nachdem sich die Strecke selbst nicht geändert hat, sondern "nur" der Abhängeort, dachte ich nicht, das das so interessant ist.

Wo vorher eine glatte Decke war, war mir jetzt ein 20cm hoher Unterzug im Weg, d.h. die Seilführung mußte komplett neu durchdacht werden.

Das Licht über den Bahn mußte geändert werden.

Für die Zeitnehmung wurde ein Klapptisch an die Wand montiert.

Für die Liveübertragungen wurden Halterungen an die Bahn geschraubt um das Handy bzw. Tablet gut zu fixieren.

nein, das muß wohl an der geäderten Beleuchtung liegen.

vorher waren es LED Birnen in alten Kellerdeckenleuchten, jetzt sind es warmweiße LED Streifen
